I Am Itchin’ to Travel With No Place to Go

In general I am a homebody. I love home. I love my own bed. I love my own bathroom. I love cooking in my own kitchen where I know what the food is.

I love home.

But I also love to travel.

I love the thinking about the trip and the preparation and the anticipation. I love thinking about the new experiences that I am going to have.

I love the food that we try. The people that we meet. The things that we see.

We don’t seem to travel to places like the beach or resorts.

No, we go to places where you might find........
IMG_3136AIMG_2984AOut door slit toilets. The lovely choo at the top was nice. The “facilities” in the bottom picture were so dark inside that I couldn’t take a picture and believe me I tried. I am not sure what that says about me but I am willing to live with it. Makes the business that you are in there for a tad dicey.

Beetle  Large and menacing beetles that grab your foot and make you say bad words.

IMG_0487Sometimes there are monkeys that know how to open your room door and look for food.

image 21-2-2007 When we travel we do things like ride bicycles down mountains. Bicycles that don’t have any gears and only brakes. OK, OK, it wasn’t all that strenuous and at the end I got breakfast but you know what I mean.

Don’t you?

IMG_0510 We are privileged to see sweet children with bright shining faces.

Sometimes we get to eat interesting things. And I always take pictures of it much to the embarrassment of my children.
IMG_0566 You might not want to show the kids this picture. It is guinea pig all ready for grilling. A big thing in Peru.
IMG_1782 Calamari with olive sauce. To. Die. For.
IMG_4798 I have absolutely no idea what I ate (this was Ghana) but I am sure it had something to do with rice, with beans, with chicken and with fish.
IMG_5009 I was assured that the “snails” are delicious steamed and then fried in butter. I will just have to take their word for it.

OK, OK, so we do occasionally take a trip to the beach…..but it isn’t often

IMG_2298 And trust me when I tell you that this is the last time you will ever see a picture of me in a bathing suit. And that particular suit? I have NO clue what I was thinking. Well, we had had several…..ummmm…..tequila shots so I was happy just to be walking straight. And the guy in the picture? We have no clue who he was. He just appeared as the picture was snapped. We are party animals. And tequila? That is disgusting stuff and you can bet that I won’t need to drink that ever again.

OK, I think I just need to take a trip somewhere. Any ideas? Not that I am going anywhere because I am not but I like to think about it.

Where would you like to travel if you could? Do you keep a list of places that you would like to visit some time before you can’t travel anymore?

I do. Someday I will share it with you.

But I won’t show you anymore bathing suit pictures.

I want you to come back.

  1. Interesting pictures!! That guinea pig one is haunting me because it looks like he's trying to climb off the pan and he's glancing back to see if he's gonna make it before somebody grabs him...
And hey, I don't know what you're talking about because that swim suit is really cute and you look super fantastic in it.

  2. You are a lot more adventurous than I am. I'll take a good Holiday Inn over roughing it any day! lol

  3. I would so love to travel with you. the guinea pig picture... it's totally looking at me. I see it's little eye staring at me still.

You look fantastic in that bathing suit... my only complaint about that part of the post is the tequila. We had a terrible break up in college and haven't spoken since. It turns my stomach just to think about it.
