My Schedule Harshes My Mellow

I know that there are many people who thrive on being always and constantly busy. Those who feel fulfilled when zooming from place to place and task to task. Every minute and second of every day filled.

I am not that person.

Oh don’t get me wrong on this, I have boatloads of things that I need/want/have to do on any given day. And occasionally I just sit and read a book. Or knit. Or experiment in the kitchen. Generally I get to about 4p and wonder where my day has gone. But I hate, hate, hate the feeling that I am under the gun and there are too many things to be accomplished and that all of them are time sensitive. That sort of frenetic pace just makes me jumpy and crabby.

And we REALLY don’t want me to be crabby.

It harshes my mellow. And I don’t like my mellow to be harshed in any way.

These next few weeks are certainly going to put a great crimp in my mellow.

In my schedule.

In my thought process.

And you know what else I don’t like about being so very busy?

It cuts into my blogging. How do people who are obviously super busy still find time to put out amazing content? It is Wednesday for the Love of Peter, Paul and Mary and here I am putting up some drivel. Gone are the days of my erudite thoughts on the world and gone are the days when I managed to do my 365 Project.

Let’s just call that project dead for the time being shall we and just all come to the agreement that I am a slacker at it for the moment. I am still photographing every day because I need to keep my sanity but they just aren’t getting up onto the blogosphere.

Sigh.

But sometimes life is just like that.

Oh, and there is one other thing……

We bought a house so now I actually have some place to move to. That helped my mellow a great deal. Well that and a good glass of beer that I am going to pour myself in about an hour.

Sniff, Sniff. Cough, Cough.

I hate summer colds.

That is all I have to say about it.

August Blogging Ennui

It is August. Had you noticed?

How did August sneak up on me? Where has the summer gone?

And I have nothing to write about.

Nada.

Zippo.

Life is slow. The house is full of house guests and a Shoe Queen. The garden is going well. It has rained for the last 4 days off and on.

And I am on photo overload after taking pictures at a wedding on Sunday.

Aren’t Nick and Cassandra just the cutest things!

And so I am reduced to taking pictures of ……..

IMG_0135

The dead cicada that have begun to appear on the driveway and the deck. In the space of a few days they have begun to die off and are no longer singing their happy little psychotic song up in the trees. There are a few left but the noise is much reduced mores the pity.

The cicada was in much better condition yesterday. Still dead but relatively “intact”.

I had a minor heart attack when seeing the “ambulance” sitting out in front of my friend’s house during my morning walk. That is until I realized that vehicle actually belonged to the concrete company that is putting in their driveway.

It took me a moment to realize that the back of the vehicle wasn’t full of medical supplies but things like tubing and generators and tools.

That is certainly a way to get people’s attention.

Sorry about the terrible picture of the small dog down the street. All I had was the ipod. When we walk by she runs back and forth in her yard barking and throwing out doggie smack talk.

And finally, last but not least…..

Max checking his peemail.

I am so sorry.

I just had to put that picture up.

Hoping that things will be more interesting tomorrow. I don’t want you to leave me.

1 to 2 Feet! Seriously??

This is going to be short, sweet and relatively to the point. Remember who I am, I never get to the point unless I can circle around it for a while and think about it and talk about it and..

But I digress.

Tonight is the annual Ornament Exchange here at Chez Knit. I might have mentioned it before, once or twice, like here and maybe here.

And today, before they all descend upon me bearing cutely wrapped ornaments and in many cases yummy food, I am deep in the midst of cooking and possibly cleaning. I am still a bit iffy on the cleaning. I mean, I will clean today and then have to clean again tomorrow. I am tired already and I may require more of the libation of life later in the afternoon.

But the thing that is bedeviling me. It is making me nervous.

It is causing me to break out into a severe flop sweat….

Is the weather.

Darn it, darn it, darn it, darn it!!! We have a Lake Effect Snow Warning through tomorrow night. Why oh why does it have to be now. Seriously, couldn’t it just have waited until tomorrow when it doesn’t matter if people are parking on the street.

Now this isn’t the first time that outrageous amounts of falling snow have happened when I have had the exchange. I mean I do live in the Frozen Northeast Ohio. And I do live in one of the four places in the USA where you can find Lake Effect Snow (the others being South Bend, IN; Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY). But really, 1 to 2 FEET of snow. Come on!!!

Just what I need is the city snow plow guy yelling at me again. And believe me, he has yelled at me before. This being the same city snow plow man who sometimes doesn’t get down my street to plow until 3 in the AFTERNOON. And he is complaining to me about cars on the cul de sac.

Give me a break and go have a cookie.

OK, now I feel better.

I am sure that I will have tons of pictures to share tomorrow and you know that there is going to be loads of talk about food and ornaments and stealing.

Oh the stealing that goes on around here. And I am still contemplating instituting the Hope/Heather/Laura K rule that there will be no collusion in stealing ornaments. Especially considering I saw some of those ladies at another party yesterday and they were already talking about manipulation of the system. My own personal Charlie Rangles.

Let’s hope that the snow slows down.

Cuz I am already tired and I don’t want to have to shovel the walk again.

In Which I am A Whiner

I hate being sick.

Did you know that? Well, I am here to tell you that I don’t like it, not one little bit. And it would seem that my nasal passages and my throat have decided to team up and make my day miserable. And my night too for that matter.

And I was so going to dazzle you with some pictures today and witty reparte. But it is not to be. No, I am maxed out on ibuprophen (800mg at a time thankyouverymuch) and my brain has decided to take a vacation to some fun place and not take me along. The stinker.

No, someone took a blow torch to my throat and stuffed cotton into my nasal passages (TMI?) and then left me to my fate. And I don’t want this. I have things to do, places to go, socks to knit and a house that really needs to be cleaned before TMO and TSiL arrive on Thursday for the weekend. TMO is in a wedding, her oldest and dearest friend and also her maid of honor. And I have to get better by then because this girl is like another daughter to me, even though she doesn’t like my dog. Or any dogs for that matter. And HHBL and I are going to the wedding.

HHBL will be wearing a suit and there is no way on God’s green earth that I am going to miss that!

Yum.

So, now that I have finished sewing the little project that I had to sew for Alison’s wedding (the sashes for the bridesmaids dresses) I am going to go and lie down and knit and have a Dr. Pepper because I KNOW that is going to make me feel better.

Cuz I sure don’t feel all that good right now.
