Global Warming My Big Fat Bahookie

I might have mentioned that I reside in the Frozen Northeast Ohio. A place where, for at least a time this week I thought we might never see the sun again.

I have also mentioned before that we live in one of the few places in the good old US of A that gets Lake Effect Snow.

Oh that Lake Effect Snow. When the wind is coming from the correct direction (Canada) and the temperature of the lake is just right and the temperature of the air is just right the Lake Effect Snow train comes a roaring down the track and dumps on us. It snows and snows and snows.

It started snowing on Sunday night and it didn’t stop snowing until this morning.

Let me snow you my world……….

IMG_0881A This was actually how much snow we had as of yesterday afternoon. We have added some inches since that time. This morning, when I went out with the official “Quiggometer” we had 24 inches of snow on the deck.

24 inches

2 feet

I don’t ever remember getting this much snow this early in December. I am worried about the rest of the winter!

IMG_0883A IMG_0884A IMG_0888A IMG_0889A IMG_0887A Doesn’t everyone wear Crocs out into the snow? So what if they have holes in them. They were conveniently located next to the sliding door.

Max the dog is in doggy heaven with all the snow. The only problem is that it is hard for him to get into the yard to do….

you know…..

dog stuff.

And can I tell you that my snowplow guy, Jason, is just about my favorite person in the entire world right now. The driveway is always plowed by the time I get up. And he comes back in the afternoon to plow again.

But today the sun is shining and all is right with the world.

At least until Sunday when we are supposed to get socked again.

Sigh.

  1. The wind was kind to us with the lake effect snow here in Indiana. It wasn't from the northwest very long so we were spared the worst of it.

But the next system that will hit you will hit us first!

  2. I wear crocs in the winter! They're handy! However mine don't have holes, so I guess they're called mules. Still rubber...
So sorry you got dumped on! I think we're in for it this weekend. The salt trucks are out and spreading salt and sand for some reason...

  3. They have now changed Sunday's forecast to rain--or at the very least rain mixed with snow--so if the drive isn't cleared, better git 'er done. We are getting our second plowing tomorrow. Silly us had it done Monday and then got just as much snow all over again. BTW Mantua got as much as you guys this storm. Usually you get a little more. We are buried.

  4. @The Mom Chef - good thing we are friends!

@Chris- We do usually get more than you but I know that Mantua got slammed this time. One of my walking buddies lives in Mantua.

  5. All I can think about is how gorgeous it is.

That picture with the sun shining thru the snow covered trees is totally my new desktop.

PS. It was 75 degrees and sunny today.
    :P

  6. Tonight it will be above freezing in Louisville. I am actually noticing the difference between 11 degrees as it was and 33 degrees. Tomorrow we are promised 40 degrees.

The snow is beautiful but I would prefer more moderate weather.

  7. Awwww, please don't throw a snowball when I tell you we hit 52 degrees today with sun.

Seriously...having had a similar snow last Christmas, I am in deep sympathy with those of you getting this deep stuff!

  8. I'm one of those weird people who love the snow. It's soooo beautiful (as your photos will attest.) I also love snow days for the kids. But then there is the white-knuckle driving. Not so much fun.
