Greetings from afar oh faithful readers.
Afar?
Yup, I am off again to the wilds of the world. Seeing new sights. Eating new things. Being surrounded by a language that I cannot speak or read......
In short downtown Cleveland.
No that isn't really where I am although the description is probably apt, and you will know what I mean if you have been in downtown Cleveland.
No I am not in Cleveland, or Ohio, or the USA for that matter.
I am in Lima, Peru.
Yup, I said Peru. And a lovely time I am having I can tell you. In fact, by the time that you read this I will be on the way home or almost. Through the beauty of the internet you haven't even known that I have been gone for almost a week! I am sneaky like that.
Why Peru you ask? Are you at Machu Pichu you ask? No not Machu which is a good thing as right now you can't go there because the train has been washed out, they have had massive flooding and had to rescue 800+ stranded toursits.
No, we are visiting HHBL's mom and step-dad, who live 6 months of the year in Peru and 6 months of the year in the US. Not a bad deal if you can get it. We have been lazy, lazy, lazy all week long. Not hard to do when you have Ruperto, the house man, to set the table for you and do the dishes and set out the food and.....I think I need one of those. NO really I don't. At the moment I am at the beach and have been since Monday. It is a tough life but someone has to do it.
Oh the stories to tell you! The pictures to show you! The food to describe. But that will come next week I would think, once I get my act together.
So far, knock on wood, I haven't gotten sick. And believe me I have been eating things that might cause that. The fresh figs, bought from a roadside vendor and eaten in the car on the way to the beach would be suspect for sure. But they looked so good and I just couldn't resist when offered. And then we had them again yesterday only we stuffed them with lovely, stinky goat cheese. Oh be still my beating heart. That and a good glass of wine as the sun set. And then off to have some fish in caper sauce. Gads!
I should have a 7 Quick Takes up on Friday but it might be a tad late, we will see.
So, for now, Hello from Lima. Just remember not to drink the water!
You know how to live -- A Peruvian trip! Figs and goat cheese sound heavenly too. Hope you took some pics! -Tammy
ReplyDeleteYou stinker...I had no idea you were in Peru!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to hear all about it!!
Wow! Aren't you the jet-setter! lol! This sounds like a great trip, especially because you are visiting with people you know and who know their way around the area. That has to make for a more relaxing visit.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of an old kids' show called "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago?" It was about a spy or something like that who used to travel the world.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you're a spy. :)
