Every Year I Forget

Every year I forget.

I forget that for months on end the cleanliness of my nails is suspect.

That they often times look like this…..IMG_1689A

That I have dirt under them and in them and around them no matter how I try and what gloves I use.

I have canvas gloves that I wear when wielding my shovel and moving plants around. They are getting a lot of use at the moment.

I wear latex gloves when I am weeding. They are excellent for that purpose because you can really get a good grip on little weeds and gently pull them out. It makes me feel like a surgeon. But on really warm days it makes my hands sweat.

Not a pretty picture.

But no matter what I use to protect the old digits I still manage to get dirt under my fingernails.

But I don’t care.

Not when I know that I can sit out here……

And just relax. I will have dirty fingers every day just so that I can do that.

  1. Garden looks most excellent - now if you can keep those deer away from the hosta . . .

  2. I'd do the same thing! Great garden!
My mom always had varnish and stain under her nails...
