7 Quick Takes (Vol 111)

7_quick_takes_sm

Greetings and salutations. It is Friday again. And it is April Fool’s Day. And it is 75F and sunny here at Chez Knit. And don’t forget the sentence before that last one.

So after you are done reading my boring and ridiculous blatherings here remember to click on the pic above to be whisked, at the speed of the snow falling in my front yard, over to Conversion Diary to see what everyone else has been doing this week.

Hopefully it was warmer than here.

1.
We were out of town last weekend, visiting the Parental Units, TMO, TSiL and Shoe Queen. And I learned a valuable lesson.

When getting ready for bed in the evening make sure you are careful about what tube of stuff you pick up to squeeze out on your toothbrush.

Deb innocently goes upstairs to perform her nightly ablutions. Picks up toothbrush. Picks up tube of toothpaste. Puts paste on toothbrush. Puts toothbrush in mouth and begins to brush…

Uuggg! I must have somehow gotten hand lotion on my toothbrush because it tastes like Lubriderm.

Continue brushing.

Why is this stuff not foaming all of a sudden. And why does it still taste like….

Hey wait a minute.

And then I took a look at the tube of “toothpaste” and realized that I hadn’t put toothpaste on my toothbrush. I had put hand cream on my toothbrush.

Spitspitspitspitspit. Rinserinserinserinse.

Reapply the real toothpaste and brush vigorously. But I could still faintly taste the hand lotion for the rest of the evening.

But on a lighter note my teeth and gums were smooth and silky.

This week I stumbled on..

Stumbleupon.

And I am hooked.

I am sucked in.

How did I not know about this site.

And now that I do know about it how will I ever tear myself away from the computer ever again. I have found the most amazing sites.

Help me.

3.
After just 24 hours on the antibiotic and steroid I have my Maxie Poodles back.

Amazing. No more horrible wheezing. No more mind blowing I-Am-Coughing-Up-A-Lung cough. No more funky smell.

And with all the steroids that he is taking Max is seriously considering trying out for Major League baseball. Cuz he will be bulking up.

Anyone have Barry Bonds number?

4.
I have an un-naturally strong love for potato chips. Where others might not be able to resist things like crack cocaine, put me in front of a bowl of Shearer’s Old Fashioned Chips and you won’t be able to tear me away. Intervention is not an option.

That is why I rarely if ever buy potato chips. Cuz once they are here at Chez Knit and the bag is opened I will eat them.

Until the bag is an empty crinkled mess and I have licked the inside clean.

But this week, I found a way. I made potato chips.

In the microwave.

And my life will never be the same. The angels sang.

I will tell you how to do this joyous thing next week, after I take some pictures. But let me tell you that it is easy as sin, requires potatoes, a smidge of olive oil, salt and some paper towel.

And then VOILA! Potato joy.

5.
You know, it is really hard to believe that it is Baseball Opening Day here in the Frozen Northeast Ohio because……

It is snowing at the moment.

And this isn’t the first time that it has snowed on Opening Day. Oh no. I believe that in 2007 they had to cancel the first series of the season because it snowed every day. The grounds crew tried to keep up with it between inning by going out and blowing all the snow off with leaf blowers but they couldn’t keep up with it so the game was cancelled. HHBL and I had tickets to one of those games and we decided that it was a better option to just stay home, drink hot cocoa and watch it in the comfort of our recliners here at Chez Knit.

And as we all know I love baseball. But not if I have to wear boots and a parka to watch it.

LookLeap and I are deep into garden planning. The big decision of the week is…

Grow potatoes or not grow potatoes?

Normally I wouldn’t even think about it as we do have a finite amount of garden space. But then I saw this…

How To Build a Potato Tower

And we are seriously considering it. After all, isn’t gardening all about experimenting with what works and what doesn’t?

7.
You know, I have had such a boring, dog snot, snow, cooking and cleaning filled week that I just can’t even think of a number 7.

How sad is that.

And so I will leave you with this…..

Papa's Warm Head HatHave a great week everyone and remember to stick your tongue out at someone or something this week.

It will make you feel better.

  1. Yuck yuck yuck to #1.

In fact, yuck yuck yuck to the snow. I'm so sorry the winter hasn't left you yet. It's only a matter of time!!

Ooooo homemade potato chips!! I have to say, I'm a little suspicious of potato chips made in the microwave, but I'll have to return next week for the explanation.
