1 to 2 Feet! Seriously??

This is going to be short, sweet and relatively to the point. Remember who I am, I never get to the point unless I can circle around it for a while and think about it and talk about it and..

But I digress.

Tonight is the annual Ornament Exchange here at Chez Knit. I might have mentioned it before, once or twice, like here and maybe here.

And today, before they all descend upon me bearing cutely wrapped ornaments and in many cases yummy food, I am deep in the midst of cooking and possibly cleaning. I am still a bit iffy on the cleaning. I mean, I will clean today and then have to clean again tomorrow. I am tired already and I may require more of the libation of life later in the afternoon.

But the thing that is bedeviling me. It is making me nervous.

It is causing me to break out into a severe flop sweat….

Is the weather.

Darn it, darn it, darn it, darn it!!! We have a Lake Effect Snow Warning through tomorrow night. Why oh why does it have to be now. Seriously, couldn’t it just have waited until tomorrow when it doesn’t matter if people are parking on the street.

Now this isn’t the first time that outrageous amounts of falling snow have happened when I have had the exchange. I mean I do live in the Frozen Northeast Ohio. And I do live in one of the four places in the USA where you can find Lake Effect Snow (the others being South Bend, IN; Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY). But really, 1 to 2 FEET of snow. Come on!!!

Just what I need is the city snow plow guy yelling at me again. And believe me, he has yelled at me before. This being the same city snow plow man who sometimes doesn’t get down my street to plow until 3 in the AFTERNOON. And he is complaining to me about cars on the cul de sac.

Give me a break and go have a cookie.

OK, now I feel better.

I am sure that I will have tons of pictures to share tomorrow and you know that there is going to be loads of talk about food and ornaments and stealing.

Oh the stealing that goes on around here. And I am still contemplating instituting the Hope/Heather/Laura K rule that there will be no collusion in stealing ornaments. Especially considering I saw some of those ladies at another party yesterday and they were already talking about manipulation of the system. My own personal Charlie Rangles.

Let’s hope that the snow slows down.

Cuz I am already tired and I don’t want to have to shovel the walk again.

  1. I'm SO glad I can walk to your house! I just went out to refill my bird feeder (why oh why didn't i do it before it started snowing?) and I measured it at 8 inches already!

  2. Correction: I just measured the snow on my back deck (as opposed to in front of my house) and it's 9-1/2 inches back there. Go figure.

  3. Yep, I'm in the South Bend area so we've been under a lake effect warning too but we're just far enough south and east that we're getting a few inches rather than feet. Depends on the wind though.

I hope it works out for your party!

  6. My condolences on the lake effect. I can say that because so far, all we've had in western Iowa is a mere dusting. And I am sooooo happy about that. Again...my sympathies on the snow!!!! Hope your party is great!

  7. What in the world?! I had never even heard of that!

I really don't even understand 16 inches of snow. And without any bacon! Are you ok my friend?

  8. @The Mom Chef- You know you love snow!

@Dandy - We are surviving. I may have to make some bacon covered something to get through though.
